Supporting Future Gardeners

The Old York Garden Club raises funds regularly to support this scholarship award. The recipient will be that student demonstrating outstanding achievement and promise in any of the allied plant sciences including, but not limited to:

botany, conservation, ecology, environmental studies, forestry, horticulture, landscape design, or sustainable agriculture.  

This scholarship is in memory of Marion Prince Hosmer and is typically a minimum of $1,000. It will be paid directly to your institution in your name.

 Congratulations to Piper Cohen of Southern Maine Community College as the selected candidate for the $2000 Spring 2024 Scholarship Award!

Eligibility

The applicant must:

  • Be a legal Maine resident
  • Be a full-time student majoring in any of the allied plant sciences or related degree programs
  • Have completed at least one full year of study at an institute of higher learning in the State of Maine or at the University of New Hampshire

Instructions

Once you have submitted your application, you will get an email that it has been received by the Old York Garden Club.   Please reply to that email with a PDF copy of your transcript.

Step 3:  Ask two people to be a reference and have them submit a letter of recommendation for you by May 15, 2024 (extended from April 30, 2024) using the form here:  scholarship reference form
